A new type of minecraft survival challenge, tower survival is simple: survive in a tower.

All the best minecraft survival maps have a simple premise. Sky Block: Survive in the sky. Survival Island: Survive on an island.

Unlike Survival Island and Sky Block, this survival map has an end point. When your tower is fifty blocks high, you can consider yourself to be finished in the goal of surviving. You build your tower by collecting stone bricks from hidden chests located around the small area of forest that is yours to roam. You can gather wood too, but beware that chopping wood is a dangerous game. If distracted you may fall victim to one of the many stray creepers released by the villainous map maker in an effort to undermine your tower building efforts.

You are of course free to impress your own imagination on this map. Your tower is allowed to be as fancy or as simple as you like. If you are accomplished you may create a lava moat. If you are mad, you might build your tower all the way into the fifth dimension.

The village children went to bed with the hope of finding presents in the morning, but when Christmas morning came, somebody had stolen the presents! So begins an adventure to find the missing presents and locate the grinch who tried to steal Christmas.

What makes this short adventure map quite a cute little challenge is the fact that every little bit of the story can only be obtained by finding the piece that came before it. As you proceed through the village making inquiries after the missing presents, you need to trade a little something for every clue. The villagers might be missing presents, but they won’t be telling you their secrets until you get the four planks of wood and build them a crafting table, that sort of thing.

This isn’t an epic minecraft map, it’s a short, innocent and seasonably appropriate map for all ages. (Which, as usual, means mostly for kids.)

‘The Fires Beneath’ is a hard CTM map. Hostile hard. You can play it if you like, but chances are you’ll rage quit within very short order. Then you’ll start again, because The Fires Beneath, first map in the Cubic Horrors collection, is one that demands to be completed. Did I mention the difficulty rating on this thing is ‘cruel’? That’s not even an actual rating. That’s just what people sobbed whilst their dreams of completing the monument crumbled before them.
