Oh Fresh Prince, you are by far and away my favorite Sims 3 modder. Why? Look at this. It’s a plane. A plane your sims can actually use to get around their world in. Yes, it actually works, although on the same way a car does, by driving along the predetermined streets. You might think it looks a little strange driving a fighter jet around. I think it looks awesome.

These days everything is about realism and high definition. Give me high resolution pixel reality or give me death. When it comes to Minecraft, there are several HD realistic texture packs to choose from and I’ve played pretty much all of them in my quest to review all the HD texture packs.

Maraxos Realism HD Hi-Res Minecraft Texture Pack (32x, 64x, 128x, 256x)

A nicely made HD texture pack with realistic stylings and stone walls that will make you go into a drooling trance.

LB RPG Realism Hi Res HD Minecraft Texture Pack (64x 128x 256x 512x)

From that guy who bought you LB Realism (only the most famous realistic HD minecraft texture pack) comes this RPG styled effort. It takes a lot of its design aesthetic from LB Realism, but adds an RPG twist that will appeal to anyone with RPG soul.

Smooth Modern | Modern Style HD Minecraft Texture Pack (256x)

Smooth modern is a compilation realistic HD Minecraft texture pack that has its sights clearly set on a modern aesthetic. If you want to bring Minecraft into the 21st century, this might very well be the compilation you’re looking for.

Amethyst’s Photo Realistic Hi Res HD Minecraft Texture Pack (128x)

This is a lesser known texture pack, but actually a very well done one, and it’s an excellent alternative to the LB texture packs that are so cliche right now. There’s still a touch of whimsy to this pack, but the textures are sharp and clean and it’s definitely worth a look.

Minecraft Enhanced, Super Hi-Res Realistic HD Minecraft Texture Pack Mod (128x, 256x)

Minecraft Enhanced is a very high resolution Minecraft texture pack, but it is more than that too, it is also a mod that functions something like a complete reworking of the visual settings and options associated with Minecraft. It’s Minecraft, Jim, but not as we know it.

Misa’s Realistic Hi-Res HD Minecraft Texture Pack (64x)

One of the best realistic HD Minecraft texture packs at the ‘lower’ end of the resolution scale, Misa’s realistic probably contains the best balance of art and realism I’ve ever seen. We all know that realistic texture packs can take their attempts at realism too far. Misa’s keeps it real, so to speak, but does so with an eye to beauty.

Ladder Dog

Better Blocks is a simple minecraft mod that increases your block options when playing minecraft with new minecraft fences, new minecraft gates, and new minecraft stairs. It’s one of those mods that’s so close to vanilla in feeling that makes you wonder why the features included in the mod weren’t just put in the game in the first place.

Better Minecraft Gates

Fences have been around for months now, but none of the Mojangles have seen fit to include a gate in any of the updates. Better Blocks includes an option for gates in your fences, as well as introducing a whole new set of fence types, including obsidian fences, iron fences, brick fences, diamond fences and more!

Better Minecraft Slabs

At the moment you can have wood slabs, cobblestone slabs and stone slabs. With the Better Blocks mod you can have all the slabs you ever dreamed of. Brick slabs, mossy cobblestone slabs, wool slabs of all colors.

Better Minecraft Stairs

The mod does the same for stairs that it does for fences and slabs. You can now have stairs of almost any type, including log stairs, woolen stairs, netherrack stairs. The list goes on for almost as many block types as exist in the game.

You wouldn’t download a car, would you? Heck yes you would, and you probably will when you see the gorgeous lines on this 1960 Chevrolet Corvette for The Sims 3. Even Sims 3 players who don’t download a lot of custom content will probably want to download this because it provides a really nice alternative to the quite frankly, face-offendingly ugly cars that come with the base game. It’s almost as if someone at EA doesn’t really like motor vehicles and is on a mission to prove that they’re all a massive waste of time. This downloadable car was lovingly pixel crafted by the Fresh Prince.

There’s been some awesome stuff going up on MTS (Mod the Sims) lately, and the Apocalypse Dining Set by modder Maylin is some of that stuff. A six piece set with six new meshes, including a dining table made out of a rusty oil drum and a battered old door, old tyres and toolboxes for chairs, and a dead plant and dead rat for decoration, this does more for a dreary ambiance in The Sims 3 than setting your sim’s house on fire. This is a very high quality set that I’ve enjoyed playing with a great deal. My basement dungeon finally has furniture that works with it, not against it. The meshes are recolorable, so you can tweak these new objects to just the right shade of despair and misery.
