Zombie Survival is a map with a simple premise.You’re stuck in a house with zombies. A lot of zombies. So there we go. You can try to survive, or try to be eaten. Either way you’re going to have a whole lot of fun hacking, slashing and screaming your way through waves of zombies, skeletons and spiders – because no day is complete without some jerk levitating through an open window and trying to end you.

In the tradition of many great horror movies, you could avoid the zombie onslaught by just leaving the house, but you’re not going to do that because that would spoil all the fun. And because you can’t. More on that later. You’re asked to play on ‘Hard’ mode because the creators feed on your screams and because that way the zombies can break down the doors you’re trying to hide behind.

Rewards are few and far between, but if you’re quick enough to collect the XP points dropped by the mobs you’ve killed then you might just be able to enchant your weapons. Do you enchant early and use low level power to grind away at your assailants? Or do you save up the enchants and use them when you really need them for the end? You decide. You’re also awarded a diamond at the end of every round, so that should help keep your spirits up.

A word of advice, press the ‘spawn’ and ‘start’ levers before you enter the house, it’s pretty much impossible to get out of the house through the doors once you enter because it turns out that you live in the house equivalent of a Chinese finger trap.

Are you ready to kill or be killed? I hope so. A multi-wave combat / attack survival minecraft map download, Abandoned Factory is suitable for single or multiple players. The only requirement is that those who enter the factory are prepared to abandon their hopes and wooden swords in there, for the foes are hardy and the great glowstone counter cares not for who wins and who perishes.

Aside from being a fun minecraft attack map (or ‘Fight Map’ as its creator calls it), this map has some pretty nifty little tricks built into it, first of all there’s the oversized counter that flashes whenever a round is complete. That’s pretty cool and might just distract you long enough to get an arrow in your back if you’re not careful. There’s also a panic button installed, though it has limited uses.

If you die you will respawn outside the factory itself, which isn’t very good for gameplay, but does give you an impressive view of all the redstone circuitry it takes to make something like this work. There’s actually more space taken up by the redstone paths than by the factory itself, so this map represents more than the opportunity to be simultaneously exploded by five creepers, it also presents an opportunity to marvel at the skill of the creator who made it.

The Abandoned Factory is fast paced, pretty challenging even on ‘Easy’ and integrates the latest minecraft technologies. Do you dare download it?

Sewer survival is a minecraft combat and survival map that requires the player (or indeed players, being designed for up to four players) to not only survive but also battle their way through ninety nine waves of aggressive mobs spawned inside the sewer arena.

In the spirit of many other assault style maps. There are four classes to choose from, Chef, Archer, Knight and Tank. Each class comes with its own gear and even its own rooms. I played Archer, though I’m not sure that was wise. A single player might want to play a class with a higher defensive ability.

One thing this map did make me yearn for was a decent AOE effect, it was so easy to get mobbed by a bunch of different monsters, some with great ranged attacks, some with devastating melee capabilities.

Aside from the interesting design, there are many nice touches in Sewer Survival, one of them being the way that there’s a juke box in the center of the room with a bunch of records in a chest nearby. You can choose the soundtrack to your adventure.

A well made and fast paced map, this is a must play for anyone who likes battling waves of baddies and unlocking rewards for doing so. Pretty much all gamers ever then.
