Batman: Arkham City GOTY begins with some excellent hand to hand combat achieved by a combination of strikes and counter measures, but the intro deteriorates into Bruce Wayne being hit in the head. A lot. If this game were making an attempt at realism it would have been titled BATMAN: CONCUSSION.
This is largely caused by the fact that every single guard in the Arkham City Prison (because Gotham has decided to give up on life and turn the CBD into a battle royale thunderdome arena of death for high risk prisoners,) is trained to subdue unruly inmates by bashing their heads into the nearest solid object. Other inmates get in on the action by punching and stomping Bruce in his tender cranium.
I’m not exaggerating when I say Bruce Wayne sustains more head injuries in the first five minutes of Arkham Asylum than Mohammad Ali did in the entire course of his career.
