A minecraft survival map with a twist, Ore Survival at first apears to be your standard ‘oh no I spawned in a bedrock box’ sort of minecraft map. Then you take a few steps, peer over the edge of the rolling green field and notice that you the earth is a lie. Everything aside from the very top layer of grass has been hollowed out leaving just the ore, which would be fine apart from the fact that it’s pretty gosh darned difficult for man to survive on grass alone. We don’t have enough stomachs you see.

So you’re going to have to descend through the perilous ore belt to discover resources that will allow you to make some attempt at actually surviving the experience. In many ways this is the King Midas of minecraft survival maps. It puts everything that is rare and precious in your face right away, but it turns out that the things that you really need aren’t the rare and precious things. They’re the simple things, like dirt and cobblestone.

If you’ve not been taking the dirt and cobblestone in your life seriously enough, Ore Survival might just be more than another minecraft survival map – it might be a much needed wake up call. Or just a minecraft map. Either way is fine.

A new kind of exciting and dangerous minecraft survival map, Dark Schism will push your sense of balance to the edge. Multiple single pillars are the only landscape you have to work with. There’s a starting chest but it’s not going to fill in all the gaps, not by a long shot.

You’re supposed to play on easy or higher, though any monsters attempting to harm you are going to have a hard time of it given that the only mode of approach is through thin air and void – apart from the solid spaces you yourself create of course. That goes both ways of course, there are moments when a cow or sheep or pig appears on a far off pillar with no way to be obtained.

There’s been a lot of these ‘gimicky’ sort of maps, but this one is actually a lot of fun. It is difficult and different enough to hold an experienced player’s attention. Gathering enough dirt to grow a farm, for instance, is quite a challenge. There’s also the matter of spreading rolling green hills from the top of one of the pretty green pillars.

There are challenges, like visiting the End and slaying the dragon, but most of the challenge is in creating a playable surface and surviving against the odds. You could play on peaceful and still find this map to be entertaining.

The Ender Chest is a special type of minecraft chest that has a limited inventory that exists outside of space and time. By placing multiple Ender Chests, you can have access to your Ender Chest inventory anywhere – and in any dimension.

So say you put a stack of diamonds in your Ender Chest at your base, and you’ve traveled many minecraft miles away but have a sudden need for diamond. By placing an Ender Chest, you’ll be able to access the diamonds in your Ender Chest at your base. Ender Chests also work on other realms, an Ender Chest in the Nether will have the same inventory as an Ender Chest in the main world.
