The times, they are medieval good sirs and ladies. And your adventure is beginning in a land where the dragons of legend might very well exist. This minecraft adventure map uses a lot of the solid RPG tropes, like having to satisfy grumpy guards who want you to go into ruins to find swords for them. I was rather reminded of FF8 at the outset, of the dungeon where one fights the Brothers. If only minecraft had a way to program your very own villains right into the game – to breathe speech onto mobs. But I digress.

An adorable series of little clay golems that will follow you about and do battle on your behalf are only a quick mod away! This mod adds craftable golems which, depending on the recipe you use to make them, can shoot arrows, or snowballs or even instantly kill targeted mobs if you have the supplies required to create them.

How To Craft Golems

The simplest clay golem you can make is a plain clay golem. It requires 22 blocks of clay, so you’d better get scouring those riverbeds for the newly ubiquitous clay deposits that can often be found there. You craft the head, torso and legs seperately, then put them all together to form a golem puppet – which spawns a clay golem when clicked. A simple clay golem is pretty much a little humanoid looking dog in terms of its abilities. The golem can be upgraded after basic puppet construction by adding various materials to the crafting grid around

the puppet. Adding eight blocks of snow, for instance, will create a snow golem. Adding three blocks of soul sand, three diamonds and two ghast tears will create an angel golem, which sprints about instantly killing any mob you choose.

With five different golems to choose from, you’ll finally have a reason to go to the nether, smack down ghasts and collect the occasional wart too (for the deamon golem.)

Are there challenges? No. Which I love. I cannot tell you how tired I am of the idea that a survival map needs to tell you to harvest 100 pieces of rotted flesh, or make a pig farm. In this map the story surrounds you as you piece together the cataclysmic events that took place and lead to the destruction all about you. If you want to farm cows or mine 50 pieces of coal, that’s your business – the map doesn’t need to stipulate that as a condition of play because you’ll be too busy climbing, conquering and maybe even griefing the mega builds all around you.

Slender’s Forest minecraft horror adventure map uses the new command block to allow you to choose your own difficulty settings. You can play it on day time mode, or night time mode. For greater atmosphere, play the map on night time mode. The scary warnings and slowed walk are a little less scary during the daytime. Slowed walk you ask? Yep. Not content with creating a dark forest maze the creator curses you with a Slowness II potion. So there’s no chance of running from those terrors, or to safety.

This map has a simple goal. Collect all eight threatening notes and trade them for parts of a key that will enable you to escape the Slender Forest. Sounds simple, right? Well, as simple as walking in almost total darkness whilst all around you deadly beasts lurk just waiting for you to make accidental eye contact can ever be.

What’s wonderful about this map is that it is something new in the world of minecraft maps, something that takes advantage of the new features and creates a little world you must conquer with your mind. You’re locked into adventure mode, so don’t even thinking about breaking blocks or crafting a weapon to defend yourself with. There’s no leaping parkour, no tricksy puzzles. Just you and the deep fears that lurk in dark forests. The difficulty comes in keeping your cool and not making the same mistake twice – or once for that matter.
