CobblStep City is a very ambitious minecraft adventure map, comprising several locations spread out over a large area, dubbed ‘Cobbl County’. This is a very in-depth, well developed map with its own (completely imaginary) currency, job tree and multiple cities and locations for the exploration minded adventurer. This adventure map is designed to be non-linear, which means there’s not a whole lot of hand-holding and direction given. You determine your own adventure by where you choose to go and what you choose to do when you get there.

As a newcomer to CobbleStep city, you begin life as a refugee with no home and no education. As you play your way through the map (if you play your cards right,) you will become a college educated home owner. If you prefer, you could also be a homeless fellow or felless living in a hole in the ground, as is your right. Mansions, riches and fifty pieces of chain mail armor await you if you choose to climb the social ladder.

If you like fully fleshed out minecraft adventure maps with lots of large builds and plenty of different cities and locations to explore, Cobblstep City is going to be a ‘must download’ for you. The scope of the thing is very impressive, spanning several ‘continents’. What I also really admire about this map is the way a ‘creative’ switch has been enabled within the map itself, so if you simply want to look at a whole lot of pretty buildings, you simply flip a switch in the refugee center and fly off like Superman, or Neo at the end of the first Matrix movie, albeit with less vortex cloud effects.

Silverfish Apocalypse is a minecraft survival map with one simple goal: survive from the top of the map to the bottom of the map whilst hoards upon hoards of silverfish nibble away at your shiny diamond armor. Can you swing a sword quick enough to save yourself? To the victor goes a freshly baked cake. To the loser goes a death under a pyramid of creepy crawly wriggly piggly silverfish with an insatiable appetite for you.

Most survival maps wouldn’t dream of supplying diamond armor at the very outset, let alone golden apples of myth and yore that not only add health, but increase health regeneration so you can take more hits and keep on fighting. In Silverfish Apocalypse, these are necessary items for your survival.

Top Ramen took several minutes to download. That should be an indication of its size, which is large. Though it is compatible with the latest minecraft release, the format is pre-anvil, so it needs some converting time. Factor that in if you’re experiencing insatiable minecraft adventure cravings.

Do you like to survive in minecraft whilst being completely enclosed by bedrock on all sides whilst some distant god poses you challenges that may or may not be relevant to the aforementioned task of survival? Any minecraft survival map player with a love of deeply specific and quite challenging challenges is going to love Super Enclosed Minecraft Survival Map, which is 1.4.5 compatible and uses the command block to add a little more zing to the map as you know it.

You begin the map and live the map in a naturally generated minecraft village, complete with villagers who like nothing better than trampling their own crops and trading with you. The feature that sets this map apart is the challenge room, a place you are ported to at the press of a button, where your successful challenges are rewarded with glowing lights.

One finds oneself wearing the map maker’s head as a mask at the outset, which I found to be a charmingly gruesome touch, one that endeared me to the map as a whole. The challenge room is an excellent idea that not only focuses play, but gives the player a sense of accomplishment and redstone validation. There is a certain amount of glitchiness to this room, but if you cheat, you’re only cheating yourself. (And as there is a surprise I won’t spoil for anybody who completes all the challenges, you really will be cheating yourself if you claim victory before it is yours – in the most hilarious way.)

Would you like to battle it out with your friends inside a minecraft map that looks like a game you used to play when you were much younger? Of course you do. Super Smash Bros is a legendary Nintendo game, and this Minecraft homage to that PvP extravaganza will have you laughing all the way into the void. So choose your weapon and get ready to battle for supremacy through five separate stages including remakes of Hyrule Castle from the Zelda franchise and Saffron City from the Pokemon behemoth that has swallowed the chilhood culture of more nations than I care to count.

With specialized armor, bonus weapons and occasional input from the maps themselves as they spawn mobs you may or may not wish to do battle with, but have to anyway, this is an excellent way to spend a fine afternoon knocking some of your closest friends about the place with all the grunting and bone crunching sounds minecraft can muster.
