Lava Block appears to be a simple minecraft survival map, but it is anything but. The lava hides secrets! It’s safe to say without being too spoiler-y that the lava sea, whilst very dangerous, is somewhat mitigated by the fact that it is actually a water ocean topped with a layer of lava. You can fall through lava and then immerse yourself in the cooling embrace of tonnes of water. The problem however, is the fact that falling through lava makes you take damage and then there’s more trouble ahead in the form of drowning so, you know, plan your descents and ascents wisely.

The starting chest in this survival map contains nothing but 128 blocks of water, which can and will turn much of the map to obsidian before you can say ‘where’s my bucket’.

Though this looks like a typical ‘islands set in lava’ minecraft map, it’s actually anything but. You need a good handle on survival strategy, an understanding of the mechanics of minecraft and a willingness to leap into lava to survive here. Are you ready to take that fiery leap?

This massive minecraft survival map contains six custom made dungeons and an epic sweeping landscape that will bring tears to your eyes. This is more of a minecraft continent survival map than a minecraft island survival map. Every inch of the forgotten land, or chunk as it were, has been handcrafted. The result is a custom built minecraft map where the terrain itself is part of the adventure.

With breathtaking mountain ranges and smaller details like rural lakes set amidst grasslands, The Forgotten Land isn’t a survival map you’re going to build a cobblestone generator on and quit, it’s a map you’re quite possibly going to want to live in for quite some time.

This land, although forgotten, positively teems with life and possibilities. You could become an old mountain hermit, or found a great city of villagers and Iron Golems in these pristine lands.

Even the simple act of traversing and circumnavigating the map is a survival adventure in its own right, because the map is so large that it will be many, many days before you see a significant portion of the lands you have laid claim to.

This is an exceptional minecraft map, perfect for survivalists, explorers and people who just don’t feel right unless they’re breaking new ground.

A survival CTM map, Giant Creeper Survival involves a really, really giant creeper. A creeper many hundred times your size. Your mission? To dissect the creeper, find all the colored wool blocks and complete the monument.

The first challenge this map throws at the player is actually getting to the creeper. Bridge building is therefore a very important skill.

As the sun sets on your first day on the small island in the sky, the fire in the creeper’s eyes seems to grow higher, inviting you into its dangerous belly. If you’re playing on anything other than peaceful, you’ll behold the touching, yet entirely creepy vision of baby creepers being spawned in the mouth of the mother creeper.

Exploration is quickly rewarded in this survival map, so don’t be shy to tear down every structure you see. The innards of the creeper are a dangerous place to be sure, but there are rewards for those who valiantly persist in their mission despite the many dangers.

This minecraft survival map is also an archway, with survival above and below. Don’t expect to just go about digging up ores either, all diggy dig dig. Nope. The ores are in another castle. Or a chest, or something. Any way you put it they’re hard to find.

The landscape of the map is interesting enough to make the hide and seek required for survival fun. Adding to the difficulty factor is the fact that you’re in an ocean biome so there’s little to no chance of animals spawning unless you happen to find some animal spawning eggs.

Though this is nothing spectacularly new, it is a solid survival map and those looking for a simple minecraft survival map (especially a survival island style map) will probably be quite pleased with this little offering.

Minecraft survival maps have become increasingly abstract since their inception. Where islands once flourished now mere blocks are considered sufficient basis for a survival map. Seth Bling’s SkyGrid survival map takes the theme to its possibly illogical conclusion by placing random environmental blocks in a grid.

There are no rules in this map because you’ll be hard pressed to even play the thing. The appeal of SkyGrid comes in making sense out of chaos, of turning a jumbled mass of elements into something coherent. In more than one way, playing SkyGrid is akin to handling the universe in the moments after the Big Bang.

It’s hard to say whether this is technically a ‘fun’ map. There’s the thrill of repeatedly plunging through the grid before being able to catch yourself again, there’s the wild disorientation that comes from being surrounded by the pure expression of the concept of randomness and there’s the drive of the desire to build a nice house and hide yourself away from the madness that is the outdoors. Whether your enjoy it or not, SkyGrid has already claimed its place among minecraft survival map classics.
